Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) Chapter at the University of Miami (Coral Gables, FL)  was founded in 2016. This SACNAS Chapter along with other SACNAS Chapters throughout the nation provide year round, local support, strength, and leadership development for students and professional scientists from underrepresented backgrounds. Chapter members are encouraged to share information, resources, and peer-to-peer mentorship as well as to take part in opportunities to give back to their communities and develop leadership skills.

Furthermore, there are over 110 chapters at various US institutions. SACNAS is a national organization with 25,000 members. Here at the University of Miami, our chapter is categorized under the following: Student. Our mission is to provide year-round mentorship and networking opportunities for SACNAS members. Through participation in SACNAS chapters, students, postdocs, faculty, and chapter advisors gain ongoing local support for their development as scientists and science teachers.
